Genesis 50:20

• How have you experienced God turning hard times into good purposes in your life?

Elevation Worship released a song a few years ago that declares, “You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good; You turn it for good.” I wonder if they were reading Genesis 50:20 in the writing room, because this text says almost the same thing.

This is such a powerful concept—that God uses even the bad things that happen to us for good—because it demonstrates two things. It demonstrates firstly that God doesn’t “do” bad things to us. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph is talking to his brothers. His brothers were the culprits behind the bad things that happened to him, not God. Secondly, this demonstrates that God wants good things for us. Today, thank God for the good things in your life.
