Jesus is Baptized
Matthew 3:13-17
It’s not always easy to figure out what really matters. As you get older, life starts to fill up with more responsibilities, choices, and expectations. It can be confusing to know what deserves your time and focus, and sometimes it’s hard to see why certain things are important at all. Faith can be one of those things you wrestle with. But Jesus didn’t just talk about what mattered. He lived it. His greatness and authority didn’t come from creating a new philosophy or just teaching wise ideas. They came from what He did and who He is, the Son of God.
TRY THIS
Jesus received encouragement from hearing His Father say that He was pleased with His Son. Take some time to tell each family member the ways their relationship with you has encouraged you. Then discuss ways you could better treat each other as members of not only an earthly family, but of a heavenly one as well.
DAILY CHALLENGES
• MAKE a point of praying daily this week. As you do, also make a point of referring to God as Jesus’ parent and to Jesus as God’s Son—and then take note of how it affects your spiritual growth.
• BRAINSTORM one specific way you can live out the importance of Jesus being God’s Son during this week. Then do it!
• THINK of an area or areas in your life that you really want to focus on making more pleasing to God. Spend time each day this week working on them.
