John 1:14

• What are some ways you’ve seen Jesus’ glory in your life?

Sitting in the back of the youth room, I listened to the sound of my talented students harmonizing and jamming together to create cohesive worship. On the setlist that night was Jesus Culture’s “Show Me Your Glory,” a song I’d heard many times before but was about to experience anew. The chorus, repeating the line “Show me your glory” four times, felt more like a desperate plea than a melodic lyric in a song. I thought of Moses, begging to see God’s face on top of the mountain. Show me your glory. I thought of Gideon, asking for a sign before doing the unthinkable and firing half of his army. Show me your glory. I thought of Peter, petitioning to join Jesus in the miracle on the Sea of Galilee. Show me your glory.

We are all asking God the same thing. Show us your glory. We ask, beg, plead, cry. And God is always up for the task. Today, when you talk to God, maybe you’ll consider saying this ancient prayer: Show me your glory.
