WEEK 1 - Jesus Appears to His Disciples
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
John 20:19–31
Theme: Jesus Appears to His Disciples
Props: Soft star light, star projector, tea light or night-light, blanket “sky,” toy door or paper door
Say: The disciples were hiding in a room with the door closed tight. They were scared and unsure. But Jesus knew exactly where they were, just like He always knows where we are. Jesus, the One who created the shining stars and the glowing moon, can come to us anywhere. Nothing is too dark or too far for Him.
Lay the blanket above your child like a gentle sky.
Say: Jesus made the sky so big! He placed stars all around it. He made galaxies swirl and planets spin. And in that same powerful love, He came to His friends. Even with a closed door, Jesus appeared and said, “Peace be with you.” His love shone brighter than any star.
Turn on the small star light.
Say: When Jesus is near, our hearts shine with peace. He showed the disciples His hands and His side so they would know it was really Him. Jesus wanted them to feel safe—just like He wants us to feel safe.
Touch your child’s hand gently.
Say: Jesus made your hands. Jesus made your heart. Jesus made every star in the sky, and He is always close to you. Even when the room feels dark, Jesus’ love lights everything up.
Hold your child close.
Say: Look at this little light. (Show the star light.) Just like this light helps us see, Jesus helps our hearts feel brave. The disciples felt peace because Jesus came to them. And He comes to us too.
Pat your child’s chest softly.
Say: Jesus is always with me. Can you say that? “Jesus is always with me!”
Repeat phrase: “Jesus is always with me!”
