FOREIGN VISITORS WORSHIP JESUS

Bible Point:

Anyone can worship Jesus.

Key Verse:

“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” (Romans 10:12-13).

Big Picture:

Begin to participate in a daily lifestyle of worship.

Foreign Visitors Worship Jesus

Matthew 2:1-12

In middle school, it’s easy to notice the different groups people form; by how they dress, the music they like, or the activities they do. People in Bible times also divided themselves into groups, based on things like social class, race, education, or job. This week, we learned that God calls us away from those divisions. When we read about visitors from far away coming to worship Jesus, we saw that all people, no matter what group they’re in, are invited to worship God in everything they do.

TRY THIS

As a family, take a walk together. Discuss how you can worship God wherever you are. Do you need to be in a specific geographic location to repent and praise Jesus? If you or family members would like, say (quietly—you don’t have to feel weird), “God is here. I can worship God here by what I do and how I go about doing it.”

DAILY CHALLENGES

• CHANGE up your approach to worship this week. Don’t just go through the motions—make a point of worshiping God expectantly each day. Praise God simply for who he is. Spend more time appreciating God’s presence.

• SPEND an entire day inviting God into every part of your life. Spend an entire day, from when you wake up until you fall asleep, worshiping God with your thoughts and actions. Do every task “as unto him.”

• DO you know someone who worships differently than you do? Take time to talk with that person. Spend more time listening and understanding than talking, but be sure to share how you worship God and what that means to you.
