Bible Point: Help others love Jesus. 

Key Verse: The Holy Spirit will teach you (adapted from John 14:26). 

Big Picture: Children will help others love Jesus. 

Note to Parents:

Preschoolers love to help, so this Bible Point will come naturally to them. However, children this age may need help with knowing concrete ways to help others love Jesus. Use this lesson to help your preschoolers learn ways to help others love Jesus.

Bible Story: 

This week’s Bible passage (Acts 11:19-26) tells how Barnabas visited the Christians in Antioch. He was so impressed with how they told everyone, Jews and Gentiles, about Jesus. In fact, he was so excited that he traveled to find his friend Saul. Barnabas brought Saul back to Antioch, and they stayed there a whole year. They told many people about Jesus, and many people believed in and loved Jesus as a result. As you read the Bible to your child, remind him or her that it’s important to help others love Jesus, just as Barnabas and Saul did. 

Play and Pray: 

Make a family poster that shows what you know about Jesus. Write or draw pictures of Bible stories that feature Jesus. Draw hearts around the edge of the poster to remind you that Jesus loves us. On the bottom of the poster, write the names of people your family can help to love Jesus. Hang the poster in a prominent place. Look at the poster each morning to get ideas of what and who you can tell about Jesus that day! 

Outdoor Adventures: 

Take a family walk around your neighborhood or a local park. As you travel, talk about what it must have been like for Barnabas to travel to Antioch to visit the Christians there. Remind your child that Barnabas and Saul told lots of people about Jesus. Tell someone you meet on your walk about Jesus if the opportunity arises. Otherwise, pray that the people you pass would believe in and love Jesus.

This week, your child learned that God wants us to help others love Jesus. Your child committed to one of the following challenges to help others love Jesus. Help your child weave faith into life this week and follow through on the challenge! 

• PLAY Red Rover with your family, having people tell about Jesus when they invite people over. 

• Use your paper-plate mouth to tell a friend about Jesus’ love.
