Ezra 10:4

- How can you give support to someone who needs to be brave?

There’s a beautiful text in the Bible that reads: “Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.”

I feel like this sentence is a wonderful template for how we can empower someone to be brave, maybe even ourselves! The first part is a call to action: Rise up! It’s mobilizing and energizing. The next part gives agency to the recipient of the sentence: this is something you can contribute to—you have at least some control over this situation! That’s good news!

The second sentence is perhaps most important: We will support you. Rallying around people is a great way to instill courage in them. Wouldn’t you feel braver if you knew you were not alone? So make sure your friends and family know that you’re always in their corner for support!

The last few words make it all come together: Take courage and do it. Get up! You can do something about this! We’ll be here for you. So be brave and do it.
