Moses Meets God at the Burning Bush
Exodus 2:11-3:20
Middle school is a time when you start noticing that no one is perfect, including yourself. You may feel your own imperfections more sharply than ever. Even so, this week you will learn two important truths. God can use you, and God gives you the strength you need to do meaningful work.
As you study, you will be invited to notice your gifts and abilities, even the ones you might overlook. God has already placed strengths in you that can make a real difference in the world.
This study will help you see how God has equipped you and remind you that you are capable, valuable, and able to be used in powerful ways.
TRY THIS
Get everyone a bowl of ice cream, pudding, or yogurt. Then gather as many non-sharp utensils as you can find: potato mashers, salad tongs, spatulas, forks, you name it. Try eating the food with the various utensils. Which ones work best—even though they’re not spoons? Which don’t work at all? Talk about the things you think God could use you to do and the things you feel like you’re not made to do.
DAILY CHALLENGES
• WHAT do you think you’re too young to do for God? Spend an hour this week working on doing something you think is too big for you. You might just be surprised in a good way! Don’t be afraid to ask for help from an older sibling, a parent, or another adult.
• JOURNAL about something you want to do for God that seems impossible. Brainstorm different ways to make your seemingly impossible dreams come true.
• PICK out one tool from your toolbox each day. Look for ways you could be used for God’s plan.
