WEDNESDAY
SCRIPTURE: Philippians 2:1-4
• Our encouragement from Jesus should cause us to love others in radical ways. How will you do this today or tomorrow at school?
Do you know what the word radical means? According to the dictionary, it is defined as: “relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something; far-reaching or thorough (especially of change or action).”
Jesus was a radical in his day: he challenged systems with every parable he told, every person he interacted with, and every party he attended. Maybe you’ve been told to love like Jesus, or maybe you’ve even heard the phrase, “Jesus’ radical love,” and been encouraged to follow his example of loving others radically.
The thing about being radical is that it will inherently always cost you something. Being radical could cost you credibility, friends, social standing, even your job. It’s almost synonymous with the word “risky” in that radically loving people will pose a risk to you in some way. Are you ready to love people radically, even if it costs you something? Ask God to help you. Ask for clarity on how to love people radically this week.
