Jesus is Born
Luke 2:1–20 | Hebrews 1:1–4
Middle school is the start of a big journey, figuring out who you are and if your life really matters. Over the next several years, you’ll explore different answers to those questions.
This week, we learned something that can help you find your purpose: Jesus was born for you. God loves you so much that Jesus came to be your Savior, to make a way for you to have a close relationship with God. That truth can shape how you see yourself and your purpose in the world.
TRY THIS
Give each member of your family an index card and a pencil to carry around for one day. During the day, use the card to keep track of how many times you share something you like with someone else—for example, if you tell someone about your favorite restaurant, make one tally mark on the card. Use the other side of the card to keep track of the times others share what they like with you.
Discuss as a family the conversations you’ve had. What kinds of things did you share about? How about others? Discuss the importance of telling others about Jesus, and pray for opportunities to share the good news with others.
DAILY CHALLENGES
• THINK of how you can show humility to someone else this week, just as Jesus did for us. Perform some chores your parents weren’t expecting, apologize sincerely to a friend or other person you may have hurt, or come up with your own idea.
• GIVE a present to someone you don’t know very well. Then take some time to explain God’s greatest gift—Jesus—to them, and what that gift has meant in your own life.
• THINK of one person this week you’ll tell about Jesus and why he was born for us. Then share the wonderful love of Jesus with them.
