THURSDAY - Growing In Truth
Apr 16, 2026
DEVOTIONAL:
When I was little, I got in trouble for sneaking M&M’s when my mom wasn’t looking. When she caught me, she asked me: “Did you eat M&M’s?” Guess what I said? “No, Mama! I didn’t eat M&M’s!” The problem was, I had chocolate all over my face! My mom knew that I was lying!
When we lie, it’s like having a brown, gooey, chocolatey stain on our cheek: God knows what we’ve done, and the result is always messy. Jacob lied to his dad, and it caused so much pain in their family! Jacob’s story reminds us that telling the truth is always best, because God loves when our hearts are honest.
BIBLE VERSE: Genesis 27:14-17
QUESTION: How does lying hurt other people?
PRAYER: Dear God, help me to have an honest heart. Amen.
