FRIDAY - Growing In Truth

DEVOTIONAL:

Have you ever played with dominoes? When you push the f irst one down, it knocks over the next one, and the next one, and the next, until they all tumble in a line!

After Jacob tricked his father Isaac into giving him the birthright by pretending to be Esau, Esau was very upset when he found out. When we lie, it’s like knocking over the first domino in a long line. Lies can grow bigger and bigger and end up hurting more people than we ever expected. Even though it can be tempting to lie to get what we want, let’s remember that God wants us to get along with others, and telling the truth helps keep our hearts and friendships safe!

QUESTION: How would you feel if you were Esau?

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, please help me to remember that lying hurts others. Thank you for your forgiveness when we mess up. Amen.
