• How is courage related to loving others?

It takes courage to run a marathon. It takes courage to stand up for someone who’s being bullied. It takes courage to raise your hand and ask a question in class. It takes courage to take the three-point shot or run for student body president. But it also takes courage to love people who are hard to love—people who are very different from you or who you don’t really understand. That kind of love isn’t easy, but it can change everything. Only loving your friends or people you already like isn’t real love—it’s comfortable love. Courageous love chooses to care about others, even when there’s nothing in it for you.
