READ: Proverbs 18:10

(Answer the question/s below in your app notes)

• How has God been a strong tower of refuge for you?

Remember the fairytale stories where the helpless princess is locked in a faraway tower? And the prince bravely defeats the fire breathing dragons that are encircling her? The story may vary minutely, but the endings are always the same. And so are the towers— why is there always a tower? Why couldn’t the princess be rescued from mounds of student debt? Or be rescued from a stranger trying to recruit her to work for a multi-level marketing scheme?

There’s a lot that fairy tales get wrong. But the Bible is a story that you can anchor your life on. It’s a long, winding tale that is still being written of a God who loves and rescues us. Proverbs 18:10 says: “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” God isn’t waiting at the top of a tower hoping someone will climb high enough to reach rescue. God is the tower: strong, steady, and protective. When life feels scary or overwhelming, we don’t have to fight dragons alone or figure everything out on our own. We can run toward safety. And unlike fairy tales, this rescue is real—and it’s always available.
