Jesus Feeds Thousands

Bible Point

God meets our needs.

Key Verse

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Big Picture

Learn that God provides for you.

Jesus Feeds Thousands

John 6:1-15

It can be difficult at times to distinguish the difference between needs and wants. It can feel like we really need certain things, while at the same time, some people around us may have significant needs that are not being met. This week, we will learn how to recognize the difference between needs and wants and remember that God cares about both. We will also think about how we can help meet the needs of others.

DAILY CHALLENGE

Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.

• For an entire day, write down every time you feel that you “want” something. At the end of the day, prayerfully consider whether each of the things is a need or a want, and write that word beside each item.

• Pray about the needs on your index card. Pray for the people in need, but also pray that God will show you how you can help care for people in need.

• Read John 6:1-15 and Philippians 4:19. Think about a situation that doesn’t seem to have a reasonable solution right now: a broken friendship, struggles with your parent or a sibling, or academic pressure. Talk to God about your situation. Ask God to multiply solutions to your need, and then watch for God’s leading and answers.

FAITH JOURNAL

What’s a need (not a want) that God has provided for you? Thank God for the promise to supply your needs.

TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY

Read Philippians 4:19 with your family, and then discuss these questions:

• How can we know that God will meet all of our needs?

• What are some things our family has needed in the past that God has provided?

Discuss with your family some needs that people you know have. Then find one of those needs that your family can help with and do it! Sometimes God uses us to accomplish his goals and provide for the needs of others. What a privilege to be a part of God’s plan to bless others!
