Balaam’s Donkey Talks
Numbers 22:1-38
It can be hard to imagine what your life will look like when you are an adult. You might not even know what next year will look like. Things can change quickly, and some days feel uncertain. You will hear advice about your future from friends, family, social media, and many other voices. Everyone seems to have an opinion about what you should do and who you should become. This week, you will learn how to seek God’s direction in the middle of all those voices. As you study, ask God for wisdom and pay attention to where God may be leading you, one step at a time.
READY, SET, GROW!
• ASK someone older than you how he or she sees God at work in your life.
• JOURNAL daily about any God Sightings you see—times when you notice God. Pay attention so you can record a lot!
• WHEN you see a sign, like a stop or yield sign, pause and ask God to speak to you and direct you. Pay attention to how God answers. We don’t follow random signs as if they are magic, but they can be used as reminders to pray and test guidance against Scripture and godly wisdom.
TRY THIS
For a few days, collect the family junk mail from your mailbox. Sit together and open several of the pieces of junk mail. Read enough of each item until everyone has a general idea of what is being offered and how they’re trying to get your attention. Discuss how the ads try to get your attention and then compare them to the things God does to get your attention. Also compare the value of the end results. Say a prayer together, and ask God to show himself to you.
