• What’s required to prepare for eternal life?
“I can’t hear you!” the singer shouts on stage. “I said, are you HAVING A GOOD TIME TONIGHT, LOS ANGELES?!” Cheers erupt to a deafening decibel, answering the artist’s question.
When I read the word “declare,” I think of something as bold, loud, and enthusiastic as replying to the obligatory concert question that arrives after the opening song. In Romans, Paul writes that “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” So what do you think it means to “declare with your mouth”? Does your answer need to be loud—a scream or shout? Bold and unapologetic? Or enthusiastic and passionate? What do you think?
Here’s my theory: Everyone’s declaration may look and sound different. My declaration is usually expressive, creative, and often emotional. Some people declare Jesus is Lord through service, long hours spent at shelters and in nature, cleaning up God’s beautiful creation. Some people’s declaration is generosity: quietly writing checks for underprivileged communities and important nonprofit organizations.
So what’s your declaration? How do you declare “Jesus is Lord!”?
