• Why is heaven worth getting ready for?

If I gave you a treasure map, what would you hope to find where “X marks the spot”? Money, an Xbox? New clothes? Jewelry? What if it weren’t tangible? What if it could be anything valuable that would magically be added to your life? What would you want then? A best friend? A perfect vacation? A day at an amusement park?

The Bible says that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. Why do you think Jesus uses this metaphor for heaven? I think that it’s because the Kingdom of Heaven is invaluable. That means it’s the most valuable thing we could imagine. When we follow Jesus, we discover something better than any treasure map could ever lead us to: a life with God, now and forever. And the amazing part is that we don’t have to dig through a field to find it. Jesus already made the way for us to be part of God’s Kingdom.
