READ: Acts 15:6-11

(Answer the question/s below in your app notes)

• How might these passages show that it’s easier to prepare for eternal life than some people think?

Imagine at the dinner table tonight, your parents say, “We’ve decided that you can only be part of this family if you get straight A’s.” Your grades are fine, but your little brother struggles with dyslexia and gets some B’s and C’s. You turn to your sibling, whose face is crestfallen, his eyes tearing up.

That would be crazy, right? How would you feel? Upset? Angry? Families shouldn’t have requirements—families should be built on foundations of unconditional love and support. And having a family like that is a gift.

In the same way, being accepted and loved by God is a tremendous gift. We don’t earn God’s love by being perfect, impressive, or successful. We simply receive the gift of God’s grace and choose to respond to it. We don’t need to get straight A’s. We don’t need to make a lot of money. We don’t even have to always do the right thing and be perfect. God invites us into his family through grace, not because we’ve earned it.
