Jesus Tells About the Good Samaritan
Luke 10:25-37
Students our age have likely heard the story of the Good Samaritan before. Because it is so familiar, it can be easy to give simple answers without really thinking about what it means. This week, we will take a deeper look at this story and what it calls us to do. As we go through these devotionals, we can choose to love people in real, selfless ways, following the example of Jesus.
DAILY CHALLENGE
Instead of a Daily Challenge this week, identify one intentional act of kindness you will commit to doing this week for a family member, teacher, friend, or neighbor— either anonymously or not—that you won’t get paid for. Here are some ideas: sweep a walk or driveway, clean out a garage, mow a yard, write an uplifting note, babysit, cook and serve a meal, or take over any household chores for someone else
TRY THIS
As a family, think about someone who may feel left out, overlooked, or lonely at school, church, work, or in your neighborhood. Talk together about practical ways your family could show kindness and make that person feel valued. Maybe you could invite someone over for a meal, write an encouraging note, include someone in an activity, or help meet a need quietly and thoughtfully. Afterward, talk about how showing love to others helps people better understand what God is like. Pray together and ask God to help your family notice and care for people the way Jesus does.
