READ: 1 Timothy 6:17
(Answer the question/s below in your app notes)
• How can you put your hope in God today?
Did you know that U.S. adults spend an average of 7 hours and 2 minutes on their phones every day? Gen Z averages even more: over 9 hours a day. At this point, our phones can feel like an extension of us, almost like part of our identity.
But Scripture reminds us in 1 Timothy 6:17 that we don’t get to take our physical possessions with us to heaven. And honestly, thank goodness we don’t! Imagine standing before Jesus’ throne, He’s speaking to you, and you’re distracted by your phone chiming in your pocket. It’s almost funny… until we realize how often that’s exactly what happens here and now.
One of the best things about God is that God exists beyond this world—beyond every object, device, and distraction we cling to for comfort. Nothing we own can secure our joy the way God’s presence does.
And maybe that’s the invitation for us today: to put down what keeps buzzing for our attention and lift our eyes to the One in whom we can always put our hope.
