Exodus 18:21

• Moses appointed only leaders who were trustworthy. Why would this be an important trait if you were appointing leaders?

I’ve been blessed with opportunities to select people who have helped me lead in spaces I was working in. It’s always a difficult task to make these choices, because even though no one is a bad choice, not everyone is the right choice. Being trustworthy means that someone is reliable and dependable. Leaders need to be trusted; they must be able to handle situations when pressure rises, and they must understand the mission of the collective. I think that these traits are traits that God calls all believers to have: to be reliable in expressing God’s character to others, to be someone who understands God’s vision for humanity. You do not need to imitate anyone else’s style to be a leader for God; you just need to be sincere.
