• How did Jacob’s deceit affect his brother? What can you learn from that?

Being deceitful will often damage a relationship. Once the truth is revealed, the victim of the deception will have their trust broken, and it will be difficult to heal. In Jacob’s case, the relationship between the two brothers would be strained for a long time. This can be a cost of deceiving others, especially people you care about. Trust can be built easily or take a long time to establish, but once it’s broken, it will always take a long time to re-establish, if it ever does. If we care about the people in our lives, we should want to have relationships that are healthy, that are safe, that are full. If we care, we should avoid deception.
