• What motivation do you have for bringing honor to God?

At camp one summer, we started every day the same way. We gathered together, read a short Scripture, and prayed. Then we said the same verse out loud every morning: May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to your sight, O Lord.

Years later, I still have the same prayer. It’s simple, but it’s difficult. Words slip out before I think, impatience creeps in, and my heart wanders more often than I’d like. Yet, every time I pray this prayer, I’m reminded that God isn’t asking for perfection. God is inviting us to be aware: to pause, reflect, and realign our hearts.
