God Gives the Ten Commandments (Part 1)

Exodus 19:16–20:21

This week, you will think about what it means to honor God in the decisions you make. As you wrestle with these ideas, you can begin forming convictions that will help guide your choices over time. Pay attention to how God’s leading can shape not only what you do, but who you are becoming.

TRY THIS

As a family, sit down and discuss the areas where your family could strengthen its resolve to follow God’s commandments. Do you see any specific ways you can bring honor to God? Together, write out and display statements of commitment to follow. For example, “We will make the choice to bring honor to God by keeping Sabbath as our family and rest day.” Remember to be accountable to and encourage each other throughout the week.

DAILY CHALLENGES

• REWRITE the Ten Commandments in your own words while keeping their original meaning and post them somewhere that will remind you to honor God’s commands.

• AT the day’s end, make a list of some things you did that communicated love and honor to God. Pray for help that all your actions will show love to God.

• REFER to your doodle page from Sabbath School every morning, and choose one doodle idea for how you’ll honor and obey God that day.
