DEVOTIONAL:

Jacob followed the plan that he and Rebekah have made up, and tricks his father into thinking that he is Esau. He has to lie several times for his father to really believe that Jacob was his brother. What Jacob did was wrong. And his choice to lie was a choice that would hurt his family for many years to come. Sometimes, when we lie, it feels like a small decision, but the results and hurt are big. That’s why God urges us to be honest with each other. Lies tear relationships apart, but honesty honors God and connects us together.

Have you ever told a lie? How did you feel when you told the lie?

God, please forgive me for when I’ve been dishonest, and give me the courage to always tell the truth. Amen.
