James 2:1-9

• What are some practical ways that we can live the way God wants for us?

There must be a dozen thriller movies in which In junior high, there was a girl named Mallory who always had designer…everything. She wore Juicy sweatsuits, a Coach backpack, and Chanel earrings. I think that girl even owned a designer pencil box. Mallory was different from the rest of us, and boy, was Mallory treated differently.

If you think about it, it’s so silly to treat people like Mallory differently from others in junior high. It’s not like Mallory, before her birth, shopped around for parents who would end up the wealthiest, and then narrowed it down to the ones who really liked designer clothes and accessories. Mallory didn’t choose her lifestyle; Mallory was lucky, as are all of us who have access to food, clothing, and shelter.

In James 2, this behavior of favoring the wealthy is called out. Read James 2:1-9 and reflect on how you will treat people, based on the wisdom in our verses today.
