Peter and Andrew Meet Jesus
John 1:35-42
You need people in your life who truly like you for who you are. What you don’t need are more people trying to fix you, criticize you, or point out everything you’ve done wrong. Real love doesn’t do that. This week’s study is a reminder that Jesus offers that kind of friendship—one that’s steady, accepting, and full of grace. When you experience love that doesn’t depend on being perfect, you start to understand what a real friendship with Jesus looks like.
GROWING IN TRUTH
DAILY CHALLENGE
Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.
• Write down all the ways you can think of that God shows love to you. As you write them down, thank God for each one of those ways. Then share what you’ve learned with someone else.
• Take time to get to know someone new this week. Just listen and begin building a relationship with that person. Ask questions, listen to that person’s story, and pray for them. God may even use you to help that person right now. Be the kind of friend Jesus is.
• Have your intentional time with Jesus. Set aside half an hour to spend time developing your friendship with Him.
FAITH JOURNAL
The reason I want to be Jesus’ friend is…
TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY
Talk with your family about each person’s best friends. You could also share about your best friends from earlier in your life. Talk about why you like those friends and the things they have done for you. Then read John 15:13-15 together.
• Based on these passages, how does a friendship with Jesus compare to the friendships we described?
• What makes being friends with Jesus so special?
• What are some things your friend Jesus has done for you personally?
