Foreign Visitors Worship Jesus
Matthew 2:1-12
Teenagers love Christmas vacation. It’s a time to relax, take a break from homework, have fun with friends, and celebrate the holidays. All the joy of Christmastime and New Year’s can add a lot to your study—but it can also distract. Be prepared—your students may not be as focused as usual. That’s okay! Have fun with them; let conversations run long; go with the flow; take it easy. Communicate to them that you, too, are in the mood to celebrate the new year.
GROWING IN TRUTH
DAILY CHALLENGE
Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.
• Change up your approach to worship this week. Make a point of worshiping God expectantly each day. Praise God simply for who God is. Spend more time appreciating God’s presence. Do more than just “going through the motions.”
• Spend an entire day inviting God into every part of your life. From the moment you wake up until you fall asleep, worship God with your thoughts and actions. Take note of how your day-to-day life is affected by doing this.
FAITH JOURNAL
How do you want to grow in your own personal worship of Jesus?
TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY
At this time of year, people make lots of commitments, declaring all the things they resolve to change in the new year. How about your family? What are your resolutions? How about making it a new year of worship? Read Psalm 108:1-4 with your family, and discuss the following questions:
• What goals can we set as a family to make this new year a year of worship?
• How can we be like David and sing of God’s praises to all people?
As a family, think of one person (or family) you know who doesn’t have faith in Jesus—perhaps a friend, a coach, a neighbor, a member of your extended family, a teacher, or a local politician. Commit to praying for that person, and look for opportunities to help that person know Jesus.
